The circle represents the perfection of heaven, and surrounds the square - a symbol for earth.
Divination of destiny is an expression of heaven qi.

Methods such as Ba Zi or 9 Star Ki can be used to define opportunity for our aims to manifest.

A Feng Shui consultation may refer to these methods as an adjunct to establish:

• current opportunity - will your aims require great effort to achieve or are you going with the flow.
• elements that balance your chart - with recommendations such as: type of action that inherently suits you to express yourself or create wealth, elements reflected in colour of clothing auspicious for job interviews.

Please note that although Ba Zi may recommend an element for you, Feng Shui may recommend an element for your bedroom and these are not the same thing. An environment that is balanced can work for you even if it is not cured with your personal best element.

This should not be considered a detailed life reading - which can be obtained in a separate consultation from your Feng Shui assessment.

B a  Z i  (commonly known as Four Pillars of Destiny) is a cosmology based on cycles of time being given qualities. Your place, time, day, month and year of birth are the source of 8 primary qualities which are arranged in four groups or pillars, plus 10 year luck cycles. Complex interactions between these and current time define trends. You may have heard that you are one of 12 'animals' such as Horse or Snake based on year, but this is only one eighth of the information held in your birth date.

This system can describe personality traits, abilities, career choice, relationships, health.

For instance:

• This 10 year period brings an earth element that can be perceived as opportunity to find a wife, or to go out and 'conquer' hence creating wealth. You may find remuneration in a career that embodies 'earth' such as cooking, farming, healing or building.
• Your chart would find balance if you were to apply discipline to your actions (metal)
• Broad health issue types reflected in chart imbalances
  eg metal: lung, skin

Ba Zi may be used to matchmake in a comparison of charts.
This could be be a balance of positive elements:

• between relationship partners
• of business qualities to owner
• of auspicious times and dates for celebrations, ceremonies, business openings

9  S t a r  K i  is an elegant derivative of Chinese principles used in Japan which distils influences down to numerology driven elements. Usually a year number and month number profile gives potential general character trends. Quite often used in directionology: how your year number relates to the current year defines auspicious directions to travel in. For example a business man may take a journey in a direction to a meeting where he will be stronger than his 'opponent'.
